Terms of Service

Effective 3 June 2026 · v1.0-alpha · Made in Melbourne

This is the agreement between you and SliceCo while you use the app. Plain language. No surprises. By creating an account or using SliceCo, you agree to what's below.

1. The service & alpha status

SliceCo is a golf-caddie web app. It does GPS distances, scorecards, per-hole scoring, putts and shot tracking, handicap estimates, and friends features. To use it you create an account.

SliceCo is currently in alpha. That's the early, hands-on stage of building. The app is provided "as is": features may change or be removed, things may break, and — while we try hard not to — data could be lost during alpha. Please don't rely on SliceCo as your only record of anything important. Exporting your data now and then (you can, from inside the app) is a good idea.

2. Cost

Free during alpha. Every feature, every round, no credit card, no ads. Down the track we may introduce a paid tier; if we do, we'll tell you well in advance and your existing data stays yours.

3. Accounts & your responsibilities

You need an account to use SliceCo. When you sign up we store your email, a securely hashed password, and a display name (see the Privacy Policy). You're responsible for:

If you think someone else has accessed your account, email us. You can export your data or request deletion at any time — see section 9.

4. Acceptable use

Do not use SliceCo to:

5. Your content & friends visibility

The data you create — your rounds, scores, putts, shots, handicap, profile, and bio — belongs to you. By using the app you give us permission to store and process it so we can run the service for you.

SliceCo has friends features. When you connect with another player, some of your information becomes visible to them — for example your display name and the golf activity those features are designed to surface (such as rounds or stats). Only use friends features with people you're happy sharing that with. Friends don't get your email, your password, or your account settings.

6. GPS & handicap are estimates

GPS distances depend on your phone, the satellites, and the course data — they are estimates, not survey-grade measurements. Handicap and any strokes-gained or stats figures are approximations to help you track trends. They are not guaranteed, and they are not a substitute for an officially registered handicap with Golf Australia. Use your own judgement on the course.

7. Availability

We try to keep the app running, but during alpha we make no uptime guarantee. The service may be unavailable, slow, or reset at times while we build. We'll fix problems as fast as we reasonably can.

8. Liability

SliceCo is a free alpha provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We're not responsible for missed cuts, lost balls, club choices that found the bunker, or — more seriously — for any loss of data or other loss arising from your use of an early, experimental product. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that can't be excluded. To the maximum extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you've paid us, which during the alpha is $0.

9. Your data

Your data is yours. The Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how we store it (Supabase Postgres, Sydney region). You can export your data as JSON from inside the app, and you can request account deletion by emailing [email protected] — during alpha that's handled manually, so allow a few days.

10. Intellectual property

The SliceCo brand, design, and code are owned by Lockie Horking. You may not copy or redistribute them without permission. The golf data you create using SliceCo belongs to you.

11. Termination

You can stop using SliceCo and delete your account at any time (see section 9). We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or misuse the service, and we may discontinue features — or the whole alpha — as the product evolves. Where we reasonably can, we'll give you a heads-up so you can export your data first.

12. Governing law

This agreement is governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and any disputes will be handled in the courts of Victoria.

13. Changes

If we change these terms in a material way, we'll update the effective date and version at the top of the page and, where appropriate, let you know in the app. Continuing to use SliceCo after an update means you accept the new terms.

14. Contact

Questions, suggestions, or to request account deletion: [email protected].
